DEADLINE EXTENDED TO Jan 3: Southwest Key funds Social Entrepreneurship Scholarships to IMPACT Texas
Southwest Key funds Social Entrepreneurship Scholarships to IMPACT Texas
Six entrepreneurs will be selected to attend the summit free of charge. Deadline Extended to January 3, 2014.
Austin, TX. IMPACT Texas is happy to announce a new scholarship funded by sponsor Southwest Key Programs. In an effort to promote participation by minority entrepreneurs, six scholarships will be made available to Social Entrepreneurs of color from across the state and will cover the cost of registration for IMPACT Texas. Only one scholarship can be awarded to each enterprise, and early stage social enterprises are encouraged to apply.
Social entrepreneurship is key to creating an impact economy in Texas. Both the summit and Southwest Key believe the participation of these entrepreneurs will help create the foundation for the well-‐capitalized, impact investment market we envision. Minority participation in entrepreneurship lags behind other populations significantly. People of color made up just 8.5% of people seeking funding from angel investors in the first half of 2013 according to a study by the University of New Hampshire’s Center for Venture Research*.
