Geraldo Rivera

Geraldo Rivera serves Vice President of Immigrant Children’s Services in our Arizona and California regions. In this role, Geraldo leads more than 5,000 employees has overseen a recent restructuring of our operations. Working with outside experts, regulators and elected officials, Geraldo and his team have enhanced our clinical and operational capabilities, improving upon our mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment in our shelters.

Prior to joining Southwest Key, Geraldo was the sheriff of Conejos County, Colorado. During his tenure as sheriff, he was selected to represent Colorado Sheriffs at the National Sheriffs Association Management Academy. He has also served with New Mexico’s Department of Health, where he was the manager of its statewide Youth Violence Prevention program.

Geraldo has a deep background in community service and a passion for helping those in need spanning more than 30 years. He was appointed by Colorado Governor Roy Romer to the Colorado Children's Trust Fund, an organization focused on preventing abuse and neglect of children. He was also selected to serve on the Colorado Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Council, providing recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature on juvenile justice issues.

Geraldo’s experience has earned him speaking opportunities across the country, where he has shared his expertise on a wide array of topics including poverty, violence prevention, substance abuse and the community readiness model.
