WELLNESS FAIR PROMOTES HEALTHY LIFESTYLES FOR ALL OF AUSTIN
AUSTIN, TX - (August 24, 2011) When Southwest Key Programs, a national nonprofit organization, moved its headquarters to East Austin it was an intentional investment in that community. Last year, the organization also made an intentional investment in the health of its staff through an employee Wellness Program and has since become ranked in among the top three healthiest employers in Central Texas by the Austin Business Journal. But promoting a healthy lifestyle for its staff wasn’t enough, and this week, they will host a “Wellness Fair” to share information and provide health screenings to their Austin-based staff and all members of the community.
WHAT:
Community members are encouraged to come to the national headquarters of Southwest Key Programs in East Austin to meet with local resources for living a healthy lifestyle at the free Wellness Fair. Representatives from organizations such as insurance & benefits companies (ex. Southwest Key Programs recognizes that the focus on promoting healthy lifestyles for everyone, and offering access to information and resources will make families and communities stronger. About Southwest Key Programs:
For almost 25 years, Southwest Key Programs has worked to keep doors to opportunity open for young people so they can achieve their dreams. Through family- and community-based programs for children caught in the juvenile justice system, youth can be rehabilitated and build positive and productive lives upon release. Through the East Austin Children’s Promise initiative, a model program designed to offer quality education to the children in East Austin, adult education, job training opportunities, cultural arts programs, and community building, Southwest Key is empowering families to improve their own lives, and their communities as a whole.
