Southwest Key VP of Community Engagement Visits Magellan International School
On April 27, 2016 Southwest Key Vice President of Community Engagement Jennifer Nelson had the opportunity to speak to 3rd graders from The Magellan International School about the history and vision of Southwest Key Programs.
The young students at Magellan are currently learning about different types of professional organizations and ending the lesson by creating their own mock organization.
Nelson told the students that Dr. Juan Sánchez founded Southwest Key Programs to help improve the lives of others because of his own personal experiences as a boy. She also stressed to the students that any career they want to pursue—such as being a doctor, a teacher or even an accountant—can be done while working for a nonprofit and helping others.
"It was great to be with such curious and engaged kids," Nelson said. "They had tons of questions and wanted to share their thoughts and ideas. One student even decided that Southwest Key would be the beneficiary of her organization that will collect donated books for kids who need them!"
