Austin Mom Layla Fry Fundraises For Children In Memory Of Her Son

East Austin College Prep raised over $8,000 during the 2nd annual Amplify Austin event, a 24-hour, web-based, festival of giving that took place March 20-21st, 2014. Southwest Key Communications and Web Manager Layla Fry raised over $3,000 of that amount on her personal Amplify page by sharing her personal story of loss this year.

This summer, East Austin College Prep’s teacher, Alfredo Garcia will be taking his theater class on a Europe excursion. Mr. Garcia came to East Austin College Prep in 2012 with over a decade of international teaching experience. He is now the head volleyball coach and Director of the Theatre/Drama program at East Austin College Prep’s MLK Campus.

EAPrep Students Walk in the Footsteps of Our Nation’s Leaders

In May of 2013, East Austin College Prep History Teacher, Jacqueline Vidal, lead a group of students to Washington D.C. as part of the Close Up Program. The Close Up Foundation, a non-profit, nonpartisan educational organization, founded in 1971, organized the trip. They offer students of varying grades an in-depth view of the democratic process through interactive participation.
