Wednesday, December 5, 2012 — Workforce Solutions Cameron was recognized at the 16th Annual Texas Workforce Commission Conference in Grapevine, Texas as one of the top 3 performing Workforce Boards for the year. The awards, which recognize Workforce Investment Act exemplary performance, are based on a board’s accomplishments in the areas of adult, dislocated worker, and youth, and also consider board expenditures.

Unlike other awards that only recognize efforts in one performance measure or only look at expenditures, these awards are the most prestigious awarded by Texas Workforce Commission (or TWC) as they recognize overall accomplishments in contracted performance and fiscal performance in the core TWC programs.

“This award would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of everyone in our centers,” says Henry B. Castillo, Regional Director for Workforce Solutions Cameron. Castillo also quoted Aesop in his thank you letter to staff, “The level of our success is limited only by our imagination and no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.”

TWC Executive Director, Larry Temple, added his congratulations, “Your efforts truly help prepare the Texas workforce system for the future and I want to personally say, job well done, to everyone involved. I’d especially like to recognize the workforce boards that were presented awards for outstanding service.”

In addition, on September 27, 2012 the Cameron County Workforce Board rewarded Workforce Solutions Cameron for ranking #1 in overall performance for the year.

One of Southwest Key’s eight social enterprises, Southwest Key Workforce Development, LLC is under the direction of BeeJay Williams, who oversees both Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas and Workforce Solutions Cameron. Southwest Key began operations with Workforce Solutions Cameron in 2009.
