Under the direction of BeeJay Williams, a total of six centers help meet those goals in Texas, four of which are under the umbrella of Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas.

The center in Abilene, Texas, was recently rewarded by the community it serves for a job well done. The Abilene Reporter-News, the paper of record for Abilene, announced this Summer that Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas was the Reader’s Choice Winner of Best Employment Agency for 2012.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is helping to keep the unemployment rate in Abilene—measured in September 2012 at 5%—lower than both the national and state rates. According to the the U.S. Bureau of Statistics and Labor, as of September 2012, the (non-seasonally adjusted) unemployment rate sits at 7.6% for the nation and at 6.3% for the state of Texas.

According to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission, September brought with it gains in seven of the 11 major industries in Texas. Professional and Business Services had the greatest increase with 13,600 jobs added statewide. Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas serves a large proportion of white collar workers, particularly hard hit by the national economic downturn. However, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is able to help job-seekers from every walk of life by providing more than just employment services. They look at the entire system of employment, providing job training, workforce education, child care, and educational initiatives for adults and youth.
