Jennifer Nelson is Southwest Key's Vice President of Community Programs responsible for overseeing the Communications & Development Departments and leading the East Austin Children's Promise initiative. She has over twenty years of experience in the provision of youth and family treatment and support services. Jennifer served as director of a community-based child advocacy organization and as a technical assistance provider to state and county child welfare agencies nationwide. She is the co-founder of the New York City-based Voices of Youth addressing the needs of youth transitioning out of foster care. She also played a critical role in the development, implementation, and subsequent operation of the New York based the Family Keys Program, the Family Keys Runaway Program, and the Community Connections Program.
Jennifer received her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She has three beautiful boys: Juan de Jesus, and his two twin brothers Tenoc Andres and Cesar Antonio.
