Overview of the Model

The Residential Treatment Center is designed to provide a very secure, structured therapeutic milieu for extremely difficult, or hard-to-place youth. These programs have been extremely successful, achieving positive termination rates in excess of 90 percent. Typical referrals to the residential treatment centers have one or more of the following characteristics: 1) A history of two or more unsuccessful residential placements; 2) A history of substance abuse; 3) An inability to function effectively in public schools; 4) Difficulty living at home due to family conflict and demonstrated “runaway” behavior; 5) Suicidal tendencies, and/or 6) Exhibition of violent and aggressive behaviors.
